Introduction
[OTHER] WORDLY is a self-driven CMF project that I created inspired by my travels in Iceland. I had just discovered CMF Design before going on my trip in 2022. I studied other designers' portfolios and created my own project based on what I saw. I purchased material books to study the various materials and textiles usages. I selected silhouettes from other footwear brands that I know would be functional in Iceland, as well as using some materials that are native to the island. The photography you see was captured on my phone with the intention to develop my own CMF mood board from my own experiences.
Material Palette
Wool is a staple of Icelandic culture because of its plentifulness on the island and how useful of an insulator it is. The other materials are used because of their functionality on the wet, craggy, and unpredictable terrain.
Fall/Winter 2023: Reynisfjara
The Ominous Stone outsole and Foggy Aegean midsole is meant to symbolize the gradation in color from the water crashing on the Reynisfjara black beach. Above the craggy basalt cliffs was the Flaxen Yellow colored moss, with puffins sprawled around.

Spring 2023: Seljalandsfoss
This color story is inspired by the view behind the Seljalandsfoss waterfall, looking out onto the endless Elusive Gold colored landscape. The shade of the water falling down created this Foggy Aegean color but the shimmering sky peaking through the falls is represented through the Alabaster Wool and Norwegian Sky colors on the upper.

Summer 2022: The Icelandic (Sheep)
The inspiration for this color story is the Icelandic sheep breed. They are on mountaintops, on prairies, alongside hot springs, and anywhere else you can imagine. They occupy the land completely and it was inspiring to learn how adaptable they are to their landscape. I recall seeing sheep nestled near the hot springs that I took a plunge in, which inspired this colorway.
